Lancaster & Morecambe Citizen (defunct)

The Lancaster & Morecambe Citizen was a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper for the towns of Lancaster, Morecambe and Heysham in northern Lancashire.

It was founded in 1985. Three years later it was renamed simply The Lancaster Citizen and kept that name until 2002, when Morecambe was restored to the title.

It was published by Newsquest (Lancashire) as part of its series of Citizen weekly freesheets, which also covered Blackpool and Preston. It came out on Wednesdays.

It closed in December 2008, together with several other of Newsquest’s titles for North West England. Somewhat eerily, though, the website was still live and being updated as of July 2013 (and they even added a mobile version some time after the newspaper closed), although the contact page redirects enquiries to the Westmorland Gazette.
