Burnley and Pendle Citizen (defunct)

The Burnley and Pendle Citizen was a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper delivered to homes in the Boroughs of Burnley and Pendle in East Lancashire, including the towns of Nelson and Colne.

It was established in December 2001 as the result of the merger of two freesheets founded within two months of each other in 1983: the Burnley Citizen (February) and The Pendle Citizen (April).

It was published by Newsquest (North West) and was one in a series of Citizen weekly freesheet companions to their paid-for evening title for East Lancashire, the Lancashire Telegraph. The editorial offices of the Citizen series were collocated with the Telegraph‘s in Blackburn.

It came out on Wednesdays.

It was amalgamated with the Blackburn Citizen in April 2013 to form a single title called simply The Citizen. Archived e-editions are still available free from the website.
