Sunderland Echo
The Sunderland Echo is a daily newspaper for Sunderland and County Durham.
It has two editions: the City Final and the Co. Durham edition. There’s also a Saturday special edition called the Football Echo.
It’s a tabloid. It’s generally reckoned to be centre-right politically.
It was founded by Conservative politician Sir Samuel Storey in 1873. It’s published by Northeast Press Ltd, originally founded in 1849 but a division of Johnston Press since 1999. There are two other sister newspapers in the area: the Hartlepool Mail and the Shields Gazette.
