Stockton & Billingham Herald & Post

The Stockton & Billingham Herald & Post is one of a series of weekly freesheet tabloid newspapers distributed around Teesside.

Besides the towns of Stockton-on-Tees and Billingham, it covers several of the villages further west and south within the Stockton-on-Tees unitary area and along the Tees valley, going as far south as Yarm and as far west as Longnewton and Great Stainton.

It’s published by Gazette Media Company Ltd (part of the Trinity Mirror group), who also publish the Evening Gazette, from the same offices in Middlesbrough. It has no website of its own; the link below is to the “In Your Area” news navigation page on the Gazette‘s website.

It has its origins in two newspapers founded in 1982: the Stockton, Yarm & Thornaby Advertiser and the Billingham & Norton Advertiser. Both were renamed when the Advertiser series became the Herald & Post series in 1989. The Stockton edition became the Stockton & District Herald & Post in 1992; the Billingham edition became first the Hartlepool & Billingham Herald & Post and then in 1993 simply the Billingham Herald & Post. The two were united under their present title in 1996.

It comes out on Thursdays. An e-edition’s also available via the website.
