Chronicle eXTRA – South Tyneside (defunct)
The Chronicle eXTRA – South Tyneside was a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper distributed in homes on the southern bank of the mouth of the Tyne, in an area taking in the towns of South Shields, Jarrow, Hebburn, Whitburn, Cleadon and West and East Boldon.
It was published by NCJ Media, part of the nationwide Trinity Mirror group, as a companion to their evening tabloid for the North East of England, the Evening Chronicle. It was one of a series of seven Chronicle eXTRA newspapers, of which only the Chronicle eXTRA – Newcastle and the Chronicle eXTRA – Gateshead now survive. It had no website of its own; the link below is to the Evening Chronicle’s website.
It came out on Wednesdays. It closed, together with the Chronicle eXTRA – North Tyneside, in July 2009.
