Chronicle eXTRA – Northumberland (defunct)

The Chronicle eXTRA – Northumberland was a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper distributed in homes in the towns of Northumberland just north of the Tyne & Wear Metropolitan County, in an area taking in the towns of Blyth, Ashington, Bedlington, Cramlington and Morpeth.

It was founded in 1989 as the Northumberland Herald & Post. It was published by NCJ Media, part of the nationwide Trinity Mirror group, as a companion to their evening tabloid for the North East of England, the Evening Chronicle, and was relaunched in 2007 as one of a series of seven Chronicle eXTRA newspapers, of which only the Newcastle and Gateshead editions survive.

It had no website of its own; the link below is to the website of the Evening Chronicle, whose editorial offices in Newcastle-upon-Tyne the series also shares.

It came out on Wednesdays. It closed in early 2009.
