Chronicle eXTRA – Derwentside (defunct)
The Chronicle eXTRA – Derwentside was a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper for the Derwentside area of northern County Durham, including the towns of Consett and Stanley and villages in the valley of the River Derwent.
It was launched in April 2007. It was published by NCJ Media, part of the nationwide Trinity Mirror group, as a companion to their evening tabloid for the North East of England, the Evening Chronicle, whose offices it shared.
It was one of a series of seven Chronicle eXTRA newspapers. However, over the course of 2008 and 2009, most of the titles closed, leaving only the Chronicle eXTRA – Newcastle and the Chronicle eXTRA – Gateshead.
It came out on Wednesdays. Like the rest of the Chronicle eXTRA series, it had no website of its own; the link below is to the Evening Chronicle’s website.
