Ashington Extra (defunct)
The Ashington Extra was a weekly freesheet tabloid delivered to homes in the town of Ashington and surrounding parts of the former district of Wansbeck in eastern central Northumberland.
It was launched in October 2010 by NCJ Media, a division of major newspaper publishing group Trinity Mirror, as a companion to their paid-for title for the area, The Journal (whose website it piggybacked on for its online presence). The editorial offices were collocated with those of The Journal in Newcastle upon Tyne.
It came out on Wednesdays. It ceased publication in late 2011.
