Woolwich & Plumstead News Shopper

The Woolwich & Plumstead News Shopper is a weekly freesheet newspaper covering the Woolwich and Plumstead districts in the London Borough of Greenwich.

Its origins can be found in the establishment of the first News Shopper title in Orpington in 1965 by a team of five, but it’s changed hands several times since. First Rupert Murdoch bought the group in 1969, then sold it to the owners of the Surrey Advertiser in 1975. In 1984 it was taken over by Reed International, who held onto it for a dozen years, after which it became part of the Newsquest empire.

All the News Shopper titles share a common website, with sub-domains for each main title. The Woolwich & Plumstead News Shopper shares a sub-domain with the Lewisham & Greenwich News Shopper.
