Tower Hamlets Recorder (defunct)

The Tower Hamlets Recorder was a local slip edition of the weekly tabloid newspaper the Newham Recorder for the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, taking in the districts of Whitechapel, Wapping, Bethnal Green, Stepney, Shadwell, Mile End and Limehouse.

It was launched in 1987 as the Docklands Recorder and continued under that title until 2002, when it inserted and City of London after Docklands. It became the Tower Hamlets Recorder the following year.

It was published by Archant London, the London division of the Archant media group. It shared the Newham Recorder‘s editorial offices in East Ham and its website.

It came out on Wednesdays.

It closed at the end of July 2008 and was incorporated fully into the Newham Recorder, which added an “Incorporating the Tower Hamlets Recorder” mention in its masthead. Even that mention was dropped in a March 2011 revamp.
