Louth & the Wolds Target (defunct)

The Louth & the Wolds Target was a weekly freesheet tabloid delivered to homes in the towns of Louth, Horncastle, Woodhall Spa and Coningsby in East Lindsey.

It was published by Lincolnshire Media, part of the Daily Mail & General Trust‘s Northcliffe Media regional newspaper publishing division, and was a companion to their paid-for weekly title for the county, the Lincolnshire Echo. The editorial offices were in Louth.

It started publication in the 1990s as the Louth Target. In 2008 it absorbed the Market Rasen Target to become the Louth Target incorporating Market Rasen as part of a two-title Wolds Target series together with the Horncastle Target. But the Horncastle edition was absorbed into the Louth one in February 2011, and coverage of Market Rasen was apparently dropped.

Like most of Northcliffe’s local newspapers, by its demise the Louth & the Wolds Target no longer had a website as such – it supplied news for Northcliffe’s local portal website instead. Unlike most of Lincolnshire Media’s other Target newspapers, however, the Louth Target was linked primarily to a local website for Louth rather than to the main thisislincolnshire.co.uk website, although it had a presence on both.

It came out on Wednesdays.

It was merged with the East Coast Target at the end of September 2012 to form the East Lindsey Target.
