Castle Donington/Melbourne Messenger (defunct)

The Castle Donington/Melbourne Messenger was a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper for the towns of Castle Donington and Kegworth in the north-western corner of Leicestershire, Melbourne on the south-eastern edge of Derbyshire, and nearby villages in the area.

It was published by the Derby Telegraph Media Group (part of the Daily Mail & General Trust‘s regional newspaper publishing division, Northcliffe Media) and was a companion to their paid-for title the Derby Telegraph. The editorial offices were in Derby.

Its web presence was through Northcliffe’s thisisderbyshire.co.uk website – which used to be the Telegraph‘s website, but was revamped as a local portal site in 2011.

It came out on Thursdays. Exactly when it ceased publication is unclear; it was still extant in 2009 but had disappeared from the Derby Telegraph Media Group’s rate cards by 2011.
