Buxton Times (defunct)

The Buxton Times was a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper delivered to households in the spa town of Buxton in the Borough of High Peak in north-western Derbyshire.

It was published by Wilfred Edmunds Ltd, the Chesterfield-based publishers of the Derbyshire Times and a company within the Johnston Press nationwide group of regional newspapers, as a companion to their paid title for the area, the Buxton Advertiser. The Times shared the Advertiser‘s editorial office in Buxton and its website.

It appears to have started publication in 1991. It merged in 1995 with the Bakewell Times and Hope Valley Times, but continued under its original title form 1998. It had no connection with an earlier newspaper, The Buxton & Matlock Times and List of Visitors, which was founded in 1870 but ceased publication just two years later.

It came out on Fridays.

It was replaced by the Peak Courier in 2009.
