Boston Target

It’s published by Lincolnshire Media, a branch of Northcliffe Media – formerly the Daily Mail & General Trust‘s regional newspaper division but part of the Local World group since November 2012. It was launched in 1987 as part of a Target companion series to Northcliffe’s paid-for weekly newspaper for the county, the Lincolnshire Echo.

The editorial offices are in Boston. As with Northcliffe’s other Lincolnshire newspapers, its Internet presence used to be through their thisislincolnshire.co.uk site, which switched in 2011 from being the Echo‘s website to a portal for which the newspapers merely contributed news. However, Local World decided early in 2013 that all Northcliffe’s newspapers should have their own “publisher-branded” websites.

Although it was mostly a freesheet until recently, the proportion of its print run sold through the news trade has increased substantially – from a quarter in late 2010 to over half in late 2012.
