Stowmarket Mercury

The Stowmarket Mercury is a weekly tabloid freesheet newspaper distributed in the town of Stowmarket and nearby villages in central Suffolk.

It’s published by the Archant Suffolk division of the Archant media group as part of a companion Mercury to the East Anglian Daily Times, covering the western part of the county of Suffolk. The editorial offices of the series are in Bury St Edmunds, but there’s also an office in Stowmarket itself.

It replaced the earlier Stow Advertiser – part of the Star Advertiser series covering south-eastern Suffolk – in February 2012.

Although most of the distribution is direct to homes, some copies (a little less than 10 per cent of the print run) are distributed through pickup points in supermarkets and by brand-to-hand distribution in Stowmarket on Thursdays (the town’s market day).

It comes out on Thursdays. A free e-edition’s also available on the website.
