All about the United Kingdom’s national, regional and local press

Ely Standard

The Ely Standard is a weekly tabloid newspaper sold and delivered free to households in the Cambridgeshire cathedral city of Ely and surrounding towns and villages in the southern part of the Isle of Ely in central and eastern Cambridgeshire, including the towns of Soham and Littleport.

It’s published by Archant Herts & Cambs, a branch of Norwich-based media group Archant‘s Archant Anglia division, and is part of their Cambridgeshire Times & Standard series of newspapers along with the Cambs Times and the Wisbech Standard. The editorial offices are in Ely, although they moved a short distance from Market Street to Fore Hill in early 2014.

Besides the main edition, there’s also a local edition for Soham (which formerly enjoyed a separate existence as the Soham & Newmarket Standard), although only the Ely edition is delivered free to homes. Both editions were formerly available as e-editions via the website on paid subscription—now only the Ely edition is.

It comes out on Thursdays.
