The Colchester Weekly News
is a weekly freesheet tabloid distributed to homes in and around the town of Colchester in northern Essex
, including nearby Wivenhoe.
It was founded in 2002 by Newsquest (Essex) and replaced an earlier title, the Colchester & East Essex Express – itself a replacement of the Colchester Express, which was published from 1957 to 1999.
It’s published as part of a Weekly News companion series to Newsquest’s paid-for titles for the area, the Daily Gazette and the weekly Essex County Standard.
It shares the Gazette‘s editorial offices in Colchester and its website.
It comes out on Wednesdays. It’s also available as an e-edition – you have to subscribe to it, but it’s free.
